Clean air ducts are the foundation for good indoor air quality. Homeowners and business owners want to breathe clean indoor air for themselves, their guests, employees, and customers.   Over several years, air ducts can also become contaminated with mold, fungi, and bacteria, as well as dust. Routine HVAC doesn’t remove them. Proper removal with equipment like Rotobrush’s air duct cleaning machines and systems is one way to improve indoor air quality.

1604 Air Conditioning and Heating, LLC offers state-of-the-art duct cleaning to ensure the air you take in is clean. Call us today to get your home free of mold and dust today! 210-695-8080

Got Freon?

Don't ignore that freon leak

Many service calls requested for an HVAC system not cooling is due to low levels of Freon, or coolant.  Really, freon should never need to be replaced. If your system needs R-22 or R-410A, that means you have a leak. Rather than continuing to pay these increased costs to replenish the leaking coolant, we recommend to repair the leak. We have special diagnostic tools to detect leaks on your coil.

Our HVAC technicians can also advise you if it makes sense to continue investing in your existing A/C system, or if you’re better off replacing it.

The good news is that, if you do invest in a new unit, it will be more environmentally friendly and more energy efficient. You’ll save money on your monthly cooling costs, as those long-term savings can really add up.

Call 210-695-8080 to get your evaluation today!

Maintenance for your A/C system is critical to ensure your system continues to operate properly. One way to help your system during hard running times is to clean or replace dirty filters. You should clean or replace your HVAC system filter once a month during the cooling season. Vacuum off debris, then wash the filter in warm, soapy water; be sure filters are dry before you reinstall them. Replace a filter if it's damaged. Call 210-695-8080 for any service, repair, or replacement!

Looking to replace your A/C unit? CPS Energy offers an air conditioning unit rebate when you purchase and install any qualifying high-efficiency central a/c system.

According to CPS Energy, the rebate is not available for new construction projects and only applies to home improvement or retrofit projects. New construction projects are eligible for the New Construction, Solar Photovoltaic or Solar Water Heater Rebate programs.

Rebates for central air conditioning systems and central heat pump systems are determined by the overall seasonal energy efficiency ratio, or SEER. Central units that qualify for a
CPS Energy rebate must have a SEER rating of 15.0 or greater, as well as an EER of 12.0 or greater.

Summer Energy Savings

Many customers call during peak summer to schedule an A/C tune-up. While it is advised to get your air conditioner checked, suggested times are Fall and Spring.

During this scheduled check, a technician should:

  • Check for correct amount of refrigerant

  • Test for refrigerant leaks using a leak detector

  • Capture any refrigerant that must be evacuated from the system, instead of
illegally releasing it to the atmosphere

  • Check for and seal duct leakage in central systems

  • Measure airflow through the evaporator coil

  • Verify the correct electric control sequence and make sure that the heating
system and cooling system cannot operate simultaneously

  • Inspect electric terminals/clean and tighten connections

  • Oil motors and check belts for tightness and wear

  • Check the accuracy of the thermostat.
